Warborough & Shillingford Club XI v Clifton Hampden

South Oxfordshire Friendly Cricket League

Warborough & Shillingford Club XI 118-8 (20 ovs; Christian Henk 45, J Harris 3−12)

Clifton Hampden 92 (16.4 ovs)
Warborough & Shillingford Club XI won by 26 runs

The Green did well to escape almost unscathed from an afternoon of heavy showers in South Oxfordshire, and play got underway soon after 6pm in light rain.

Forceful knocks from Christian Henk (45) and Rob Croisdale (26) put 100 runs on the board inside 15 overs, before the batting collapsed once more as just 15 runs were accrued from the final five overs of the innings for the loss of five wickets.

However, a total of 118 proved well beyond Clifton Hampden's means. A soaking wet ball did not appear to hamper the Warborough attack as wickets fell steadily and five outfield catches were held; and young leg-spinner Eddie Gray picked up a wicket in his first over for the senior side when he induced a mistake from Freeman, Clifton's top-scorer on the night. With Clifton's last man unable to bat, Warborough ran out winners by 26 runs as the heavens finally opened.
