| Warborough continued their evening-league odyssey with a third defeat in four games, losing by 45 runs to Britwell Salome on a gloriously sunny evening on the Green. With both captain and vice-captain indisposed, Tom Buckner was handed the job of leading a side comprising seven players not yet eligible to vote. Despite tidy bowling from Buckner (nine runs from four overs) and Daniel Sadler (17 runs from four overs), Ward and Slatter added 93 for the first wicket in 15 overs. Adam Lubbock picked up three late wickets as Britwell posted a total of 116 for four from their 20 overs. The Warborough reply started promisingly, and had reached 31 for one in the ninth over before the inevitable collapse came, four wickets falling for three runs in two overs. A late assault from Dave Perry (20) ensured that Sunday's total of 63 was surpassed, but only just, before number eleven Sam Peris strode purposefully to the wicket but failed to keep out his first delivery. |
