Warborough & Shillingford Club XI won by 12 runs

Warborough returned to winning ways with a 12-run victory over Watlington in the evening league.

A furious start saw Warborough pass their previous highest total in the competition (70) inside the first nine overs of their innings. However, the dismissal of Christian Henk (25) and a hamstring injury to Mark Powell (24) saw Warborough lose their way as last week's top-order collapse was replicated this time in the middle-order, with six wickets falling in six overs for the addition of just 17 runs.

Initially watchful, the eighth wicket partnership of Charlie Chamberlain (19) and Simon Tiedeman (14) ultimately flourished through a series of leg-side boundaries, which helped secure an under-par yet defendable total of 113.

Miserly swing bowling from the opening pair of Tiedeman and Dave Perry then heaped pressure on the Watlington batting line-up, and at the end of their respective spells the equation stood at 89 runs required from twelve overs but with nine wickets still in hand. Watlington attempted to redress the balance by launching a vicious assault on the spin-duo of Adam Lubbock and Roger Vaughan. Both held up well to the onslaught, and wickets began to tumble as first Lubbock held on to a stunning return-catch above his head before Vaughan induced Hoskins to slip out of his ground whilst attempting a full-blooded sweep.

But it was the introduction of Henk's left-arm pace that ultimately proved decisive as the light began to fade. A spell of deadly accuracy saw him take four wickets in thirteen deliveries without conceding a run, all his victims being either bowled or trapped infront. There was still time for Lubbock to pick up two more wickets, before the end came by way of a run-out with the cause already lost.
