| Once again, Warborough & Shillingford's Village Cup adventure ended at the first hurdle when they lost to Cherwell League 2 side Hanborough. Hanborough's total of 199 was based largely around half-centuries from Matthew Busby and Craig Wood, whilst Rohan Iswariah's bustling seam-up brought him three wickets at the cost of just 23 runs from his eight overs. Warborough gamely chased the 200-run target, but lost wickets at regular intervals and were never really in the hunt. Iswariah (24) displayed his all-round qualities to help reduce the equation to 104 required from the final 14 overs with five wickets in hand; but, despite a hamstrung Sean Leach's heroic 29, and some lusty hitting from the tenth-wicket pairing of Dave Perry and Alan Tilley, Warborough ultimately fell 40 runs short. Warborough have now lost seven of their last eight fixtures in the Village Cup. |
