Another fine April afternoon saw Warborough host Moreton on the Green for the first time in many years. Moreton won the toss, and duly elected to bat.

With no front-line spinner available, Warborough relied on a barrage of seam to wrinkle out the opposition. This they eventually did on the stroke of tea for 168, with the ever-hostile Christian Henk (3-44) and the fit-again Rohan Iswariah (4-25) chief among the wicket-takers.

The Moreton innings was held together by Mike Stimpson (38), who was eventually fifth out with the score on 113 when he lifted Iswariah to mid-off where Sean Leach clung on to a juggling catch. Late momentum was provided by former Warborough colt Richard Ashton, who effortlessly struck Iswariah back over his head for six. Iswariah later extracted revenge by trapping Ashton in front of leg-stump, before making it two-in-two by inducing the Moreton debutant Burgess into wandering out of his crease to his first delivery. However, there was to be no "Tiedeman moment" on this occasion, as the hat-trick ball was delivered well wide of the off-stump.

Despite the early loss of Roger Vaughan, Warborough made steady progress in chasing down the 169 runs required for victory. Adrian Zagoritis and Leach added 81 for the second wicket in 23 overs until, with 15 overs to go, and 74 runs required, Zagoritis fell just one short of his half-century. Leach (35) survived a very close run-out decision before becoming one of Grist's four victims. Mark Powell (27) then maintained the impetus with some forceful stroke-making before he fell on the sweep to Grist.

Six overs remained, and 34 runs were still required with five wickets remaining. This target had been whittled down to ten runs off the final over with three wickets remaining. Two sacrificial run-outs ensured that Henk remained on strike throughout the over, and, after four recorded deliveries, six of these runs had been collected. However, confusion reigned when it transpired that only one delivery now remained to be bowled. Henk could only manage to punt the ball along the ground to deep mid-on for a single, and the match was drawn.
